Community Volunteer Protocol during Covid-19
Protocol for Community Volunteers delivering services
Many Groups are already delivering essential services to older people living alone and in remote areas, through services such as Meals on Wheels, Befriending Services or Home Help.
With the continued outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and the restrictions which have been put in place requiring the elderly and those with underlying health conditions to ‘cocoon’ and limit their contact with other people, many communities have mobilised their members to help out on different initiatives.
However, we need to ensure that precautions are taken with regard to the safety and welfare of elderly and vulnerable persons while continuing to enable communities to look after their own.
Galway County Council and Galway County PPN have prepared a protocol to help you in your volunteering activities: Protocol for Community Volunteers
